It was a second victory for SPUN TO RUN’s Hello Sunshine on Wednesday when the juvenile won at Penn National.
The gelding was happy to race just a length or so off the leader for the early part of the six furlong race when tracking him and one other runner. Racing on a loose rein into the turn, he was moved from his spot on the rail at that point to give him running room to go after the front runner.
It didn’t take long once he made the move for the other horse pressuring the leader most race to start fading and Hello Sunshine to take a clear second position. Splashing into the stretch, Hello Sunshine had to battle with the front runner for much of that stage before getting the best of him.
At the line, Hello Sunshine had a length advantage with the third placed runner seven lengths behind him in an impressive run over a sloppy track.
Bred by Jay Goodwin, Meredith Krupp, Deann Baer, and Cloyce Clark Jr., Hello Sunshine has finished in the top three in four of his six starts. The gelding is trained by Anthony Pecoraro for Mike Silveri, who bought him earlier this year as a 2-year-old.
SPUN TO RUN has sired 14 winners in his first crop with one stakes performer and daughter Five a Side finishing fourth in the Demoiselle S. (G2) over the weekend.
