Speedy DRAIN THE CLOCK Filly Romps by 6 ¼ Lengths in Debut

It was an impressive all-the-way victory for DRAIN THE CLOCK’s Celestial Clock in her debut at Delta Downs when the filly romped by 6 ¼ lengths in Maiden Special Weight.

The filly wasn’t the fastest out of the gate in the five-furlong dirt sprint, but that didn’t stop her from bolting to the lead and never looking back. At every call, she had at least four lengths on the field with not a single horse in position to challenge her.

Crossing the line 6 ¼ lengths in front, there were only two horses within 13 lengths of her at the line.

Trained by Jayde Gelner for Thompson Racing, the filly had registered two straight bullet works before this run and made sure to back them up on the track.

The BHMFR-bred is the sixth winner from six to race out of Afleet Alex’s Kalani. That mare is a half-sister to Grade 2-placed Nan and the stakes placed duo of Star of Atticus and Limoncella.

Her half-sisters have produced a large group of stakes performers, including Grade 1 winner Gabriel Charles and the dam of Grade 1 winner Bleecker Street.

This was the ninth winner for DRAIN THE CLOCK, whose first crop is led by three stakes performers – including a stakes winner and Grade 3 placed runner.
