Two days after seeing his son named 2022 Horse of the Year, TAPIT saw daughter Personal Best give him another milestone when she won the La Prevoyante Stakes (G3) to become his 98th graded stakes winner. Sitting in midpack for much of the 1 ½ mile turf race, the Shug McGaughey- trained filly made her best move in the stretch to get up by a neck at the line.
#2 PERSONAL BEST ($4.60) made her one big move to win the La Prevoyante Stakes (GIII) at Gulfstream Park. @iradortiz was aboard for Shug Mcgaughey. That’s another winner for TAPIT who stands @Gainesway. Watch more from Gulfstream Park on Pegasus Day on @fandueltv. pic.twitter.com/hjeyz7n0IJ

“She was tracking really good there. She’s got a tendency to hang. I think that’s why Irad waited the way he did, so he could pounce when he pounced,” McGaughey told FanDuel TV’s Caton Bredar. “Sometimes she’ll get up there and she won’t go. I think (Irad’s) ridden her twice now, and he’s ridden perfect both times.”
A homebred for Joseph Allen, Personal Best is out of Grade 1 winner War Flag, a full sister to Hong Kong champion and Grade 1 winner Lines of Battle from the family of Grade 1 winner Civil Union and Andover Way.
