OLYMPIAD Yearlings Set for Fasig-Tipton October

Seeing his first yearlings sell for up to $440,000 this yearling sales season, OLYMPIAD is set to end the year with a bang when 20 of his yearlings sell at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearlings Sale.

Hip 190 gets OLYMPIAD off to a good start with the Blake-Albina Thoroughbred Services offering the sire’s first through the ring.

This gray colt out of TAPIT’s daughter Meg Fitz is the dam of Grade 2-placed Real Men Violin from one to race. Bred by Newtownanner Stud Farm, the colt’s stakes winning granddam was also a multiple Group 1 placed runner and went on to produce Grade 1 winner I Want Revenge and two other stakes performers in addition to the dam of a stakes winner.

This page has Grade 1 form under three of the four dams with Meguial a half-sister to Group 3 winner Starry Boy and the dam of Group 1 winner In The Dark. Under the colt’s fourth dam are Group 1 winners Basko Pinton, Esposado, and Hendaia.

Liberty Road Stables bred Hip 400, a Gainesway offering during the first day of the sale.

The yearling is a half-sister to Group 2 winner and multiple Group 1-placed Red Verdon and out of the multiple stakes winning Porto Marmay. A stakes winner in Ireland and the U.S., Porto Marmay is the dam of six winners from seven to race, including eight-time winner Portando.

Porto Marmay is one of three stakes performers out of her own winning dam Nordicolini, who also produced the stakes placed duo of Peak Power and Orpsie Boy. This page is strong throughout with Nordicolini one of nine winners out of Tuyenu, whose best runner is Hong Kong great River Verdon.

Hip 592 is a royally bred offering by Paramount Sales out of Simplify.

When the colt sold in January, he had a stakes update thanks to his dam’s half-sister’s son Home Brew and he can again brag about having an active family this sale. The colt’s half-sister is the stakes winning Simple Surprise, who not only produced two-time Grade 1 winner Gunite, but who most recently saw her juvenile Spice Runner win the Iroquois (G3).

Other than Simple Surprise, Simplify has produced dual stakes winner Optionality and the stakes placed duo of Counterspy and Simply Sovereign. Simplify’s success fills most of the page but she is one of three stakes performers for her own stakes winning dam Classic Olympio alongside stakes winner Classify and Grade 2-placed Seeker. Her two-time winning three-quarter sister Omnitap produced Grade 2 winner Air Strike in addition to Home Brew.

A daughter of four-time winner Tanquerray sells as Hip 740 with breeder Gainesway.

That mare has produced two winners from four to race and became a Grade 1 producer early on when her daughter Leave No Trace won the Spinaway Stales (G1) before hitting the board in two other Grade 1s. Leave No Trace is the best runner on this page, but multiple stakes winner and Grade 3-placed Onceforetheroad and stakes placed Star of Anziyan are also included.

Tanquerray has a weanling colt by MCKINZIE as well.

Hip 773 offered by Ballysax Bloodstock is the first foal out of Malibu Moon mare Texas Tiara.

This colt’s dam is a half-sister to the Grade 1 winning Queen Goddess with her dam an eighth-generation stakes producer. This page includes Grade 1 winner Persistently and Grade 3 winner Stays In Vegas while just one generation back are Grade 1 winners Good Reward and Instilled Regard with champion Heavenly Prize as the yearling’s fifth dam.

Another OLYMPIAD yearling from a very active family is Hip 1105 consigned by Four Star Sales.

Bred in Ontario by Al and Bill Ulwelling, this colt is a half-brother to dual stakes winner and Grade 2-placed Merveilleux. His juvenile half-sister has also stepped up this year when La Culasse finished third in the Natalma S. (G1) in September. Those two are the two winners out of the winning Holy Bull mare Breech Inlet.

Breech Inlet is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Bauble Queen, who produced Grade 3 winner Blitzkrieg, and the stakes winning Leamington. The stakes success continues under the yearling’s third dam with that dual Grade 1 winning mare By Land By Sea producing Grade 3 winner Fahal and the dams and granddams of horses such as stakes winner A Shin Missouri and Grade 3-placed Gold Bubbles.

The Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearlings Sale takes place at 10am daily from October 20 to October 23.
