It was a 15th winner for OLYMPIAD on Wednesday when Ignoring Alana broke her maiden by 2 ½ lengths at Presque Isle.
The filly took a come-from-behind approach in the six-furlong synthetic race, happily sitting nearly 10 lengths off the leader for much of the run. Jane Elliott let her mount stay in the spot she was most comfortable before swinging her wide coming into the stretch.
Ignoring Alana showed a huge turn of foot to close over five lengths in the final furlong and race by the pacesetter. By the time they crossed the line, Ignoring Alana was 2 ½ lengths in front with the third placed runner 5 ¾ lengths adrift.
Ignoring Alana is trained by Thomas Molloy for Cypresshead Racing and was bred in Kentucky by Fred Hertrich.
The OLYMPIAD daughter is out of Pulpit’s Sister Superior, who now has three winners. Sister Superior is a half-sister to the stakes winning Akilina and three-quarter sister to the stakes placed Kitty Panda. Her seven-time winning half-sister Blue Devil Bel is the dam of Grade 1 winner Audible with four daughters of Fahamore producing stakes performers.
OLYMPIAD’s first crop includes a stakes winner and three other stakes performers with stakes winner Citrus Springs and Grade 2-placed Roscoe Goose both aiming at the Breeders’ Cup.
