OLYMPIAD Looking to End Juvenile Sales Season on High Note

A group of 16 juveniles ends the 2-year-old sales season at the OBS June 2-Year-Old In Training Sale for OLYMPIAD on June 16 – 18 with those offerings setting the tone at the Under Tack Sale.

Hip 548 offered by Harris Training Center was just a tick off the bullet when stopping the clock in :10.0.

Bred by Claiborne Farm, the colt is a half-brother to the stakes winning St. Benedict’s Prep and three other winners from four to run out of the winning War Front mare Line. That mare is out of the Grade 2 winning Wend, who was also a successful broodmare with her stakes placed Rua Augusta one of three winning half siblings to Line.

Every dam on this page has produced at least one stakes performer with three of them producing stakes winners and three of the mares winning stakes themselves.

Lunar Evening produced Hip 563 offered by Cruzin’ Thoroughbreds, a juvenile who stopped the clock in :10.0.

Bred by Shawhan Place, Dr. Perry Wornall, and William Thomson, she is a half-sister to the Grade 2 winning Celestial City and winning Nahaash with all five of her winning dam’s runners making it to the track. Lunar Evening is a half-sister to the Grade 1 winning Hymn Book and out of the multiple stakes winning Vespers with the page strong throughout.

Vespers is a full sister to the stakes winning Database, who produced Grade 1 Data Link. Another half-sister is the granddam of champion Caledonia Road and the third dam of Cy Fair with all but one of the 13 stakes performers on the page winning at least one stakes and eight winning graded stakes.

Entered to run on Sunday before selling is Olympic Dreamer, selling as Hip 414.

Offered by Potrero Stables, the filly is set to run in Race 2 at Gulfstream Park before going through the ring on Wednesday. This will be the first start for the Coteau Grove Farms-bred, who is a half-sister to one winner from one to race out of the Harlan’s Holiday mare Gottahaveaholiday.

Gottahaveaholiday is a three-quarter sister to Grade 1 winner Dayoutoftheoffice and out of a half-sister to the Grade 1 winning Here Comes Ben. There is Grade 1 form throughout this page with Grade 1 winners Albertus Maximus and Daredevil named as well. In all, there are 12 stakes horses on the page with 10 winning stakes.

The Charles Kidder and Nancy Cole-bred Hip 233 comes through the ring with an update when offered by Tradewinds Farm.

Already part of a strong page as a granddaughter of two-time Grade 1 winner Starrer, her dam’s half-sister Star Act is the dam of this year’s Ashland S. (G1) third Star Actress. That filly is just the newest stakes horse on a page that includes Starrer and Star Act’s champion daughter Just FYI in addition to multiple stakes winner and Grade 1 placed Uncle Benny.

This filly is a half-sister to a stakes performer herself in Spun D M C, who is one of six winners from seven to race out of Critic’s Choice. The page also includes stakes placed juvenile Just Asap under another one of Critic’s Choice’s half-sisters.
