For the third time in just over 24 hours, an OLYMPIAD juvenile was in the winner’s circle when My Lucky Wife won at Colonial Downs in her second start.

Going off as the favorite in the six-furlong dirt race, My Lucky Wife found a little bit of trouble at the gate but put it behind her quickly. Securing an inside position, My Lucky Wife set the pace and showed her experience paid off when another foe pressured her around the far turn.

Coming into the stretch, Emmanuel Esquivel moved her a few paths wider before letting her loose. She left the field behind at that point to open up more than a length in the stretch run. Kept to her task late, she still had a firm advantage to win by 1 ¼ lengths in the end.

My Lucky Wife is trained by Kenny McPeek for Harold Lerner, AWC Stables, and Nehoc Stables and had been working well at Colonial Downs in her breezes leading up to this race.

The filly bred by McCann Bloodstock, EDR Equine, and Mark Kelder is out of the dual winner and Grade 3 fourth Gatorette, who now has seven winners from nine to race. That mare is the dam of the stakes winning China Grove, who has been a stakes producer herself as the dam of the Grade 3-placed Beach Walkn.

Gatorette is one of five winners out of her own stakes winning dam Gigi’s Skyflyer, who produced three-time stakes winner Soonerette and the granddam of Group 3 winner and multiple Group 1 placed Lazy Griff and Group 3 winner Lambo.

Each of My Lucky Wife’s first six dams have produced at least one stakes winner with multiple daughters of many of those mares doing the same.

OLYMPIAD’s six winners ties him for seventh in the freshman standings with no freshman having a better two days than the Grade 1 winner.
