The OLYMPIAD winners keep coming with Musa Dorada adding to his tally when racing over six furlongs on the dirt Friday.
Making her third start at Hipodromo Camarero, Musa Dorada broke from the outside gate in relaxed style before settling in midpack as she raced down the center of the backstretch.
There was a three-way duel for the lead that Musa Dorada let play out in front of her as she crept closer coming into the turn. Racing just behind them, she didn’t engage the leaders, preferring to let them duke it out and came running at the end to make her bid instead.
The final furlong saw Musa Dorada close multiple lengths on the front runners to take over inside the final sixteenth after just a few taps and win by 1 ¼ lengths by the time she hit the line.
Trained by Alexis Rivera for Establo Jose Cortes, the Sycamore Hall Thoroughbreds-bred is the second winner from two to race out of TAPIT’s winning La Muse. That mare is out of champion My Miss Aurelia, who is the dam of three winners from four to race. My Miss Aurelia is one of two stakes performers out of another stakes winner in the stakes winning My Miss Storm Cat.
This is the ninth winner for OLYMPIAD with the Grade 1 winner’s 26.47% winners putting him among the top seven freshmen by both number of winners and percentage of winners to runners.
