It was two stakes winners in two days for KARAKONTIE after Princess Grace won her second consecutive Dr. James Penny Memorial Stakes (G3) on Tuesday – the day after Chambeau won the Tyson Gilpin Stakes. Princess Grace set an easy pace in Tuesday’s run and increased her neck margin in 2021 to three lengths this year. The Susan and John Moore-homebred pushed her earnings over the $1 million mark with the victory, going to $1,086,160 for her seven wins and three other top three finishes in 11 starts.
Among those wins are five graded stakes victories with three other graded stakes placings. Princess Grace has raced exclusively in graded stakes company since winning her first two starts in 2020. She is one of three stakes winners and four stakes performers for KARAKONTIE in 2022 with the group led by multiple graded stakes winner and Royal Ascot Coronation Stakes (G1) second Spendarella.
