It was a 46th million-dollar yearling for TAPIT at the Keeneland September Sale when Mubarak Alotaibi went to $1 million to purchase the Gainesway-offered filly during Book 1.
A supplement to the catalog after it was released, this filly is a half sister to champion juvenile Forte. The pair are out of multiple stakes winner Queen Caroline, who has produced two winners from two to race as the latest successful broodmare for the family. She is is one of three stakes performers for her own stakes winning dam Queens Plaza, who also produced Grade 3-paced Queen Teuta and the stakes placed K P Slickem among her six winners.
Queen’s Plaza is the only stakes winner out of Kew Garden, but also one of two stakes producers for the mare with a half-sister producing Grade 3 winner Lord Alex. The stakes form continues through the page with horses such as champions Folklore, Contrail, and Essential Quality named.
Gainesway was also the consignor of a $900,000 TAPIT colt out of the Grade 1 winning Hard Not to Love.
Purchased by Pedro Lanz as agent for KAS Stables, the colt is a full brother to his dam’s winning first starter So Like Silk. Hard Not to Love is a half-sister to Canadian Horse of the Year Wonder Gadot with her dam Loving Vindication also producing stakes winner and Grade 2-placed Solemn Tribute.
A winner herself, Loving Vindication is out of the Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed Chimichurri, who saw another daughter produce the Grade 1 winner Secret Spice with four daughters overall producing stakes horses. There is more Grade 1 form further down in the pedigree with blacktype winners and Group 1 placed Quick Hawk, Captain Gambler and Liquid Mercury.
Rounding out TAPIT’s top three was Burleson Farms-offered filly purchased for $900,000 by Whisper Hill Farm.
The filly is the second out of Nyquist’s stakes winning Lemieux, who is a half-sister to the Grade 1-placed Brilliant Cut. Their dam Polish a Diamond is out of very successful stakes winning mare Tap Your Feet. That mare not only produced Grade 1 winner Diamondrella, stakes winner and Grade 2-placed Highest Honors, and stakes winner and multiple Grade 1 placed Bonnie Blue Flag, but her descendants also include multiple Grade 1 winner Life is Good, Grade 2 winner Spectroscope, and Grade 3 winner Nikkis Smartypants among those named on the page.
In all, TAPIT had nine yearlings sell in Book 1 with an average of $577,778 and five selling for $500,000 or more. The stallion has 11 more to sell with the rest coming in Books 2 and 3.
