MCKINZIE’s Grade 1 winning son Chancer McPatrick returned to the location of his Grade 1 win on Thursday for a determined victory in the Curlin Stakes at Saratoga.
Returning to a route distance in the 1 1/8-mile race, Chancer McPatrick broke from the inside post before taking up his normal position near the rear of the field. He was content to stay in that spot down the backstretch as the field crept closer to the leader with the eventual winner right behind him coming into the turn.
Strategic Focus took over the lead in the stretch, but Chancer McPatrick had him in his sights and wore him down with So Sandy alongside him. That runner briefly led, but Chancer McPatrick wasn’t going to give up and had his head in front when they hit the wire.
What a finish! 🙌🍀

The Chad Brown trainee is owned by Flanagan Racing and has won half of his eight starts with a second in the Tampa Bay Derby (G3) earlier this year with $697,875 in earnings.
A $725,000 2-year-old purchase bred by Rigney Racing, Chancer McPatrick is one of three winners from three to race out of the winning Bernadreamy. That mare is out of Grade 1 winner Dream Empress, who is also the granddam of multiple stakes winning Fireball Baby.
This is one of six stakes winners and 11 stakes performers for MCKINZIE in 2025, putting second behind only Vekoma among second crop sires in both categories.
