It’s another juvenile to watch for MCKINZE after son Golden Tornado wasted no time getting a Thoroughbred Daily News ‘Rising Star’ title in his debut at Saratoga.
His career kicked off in a six-furlong dirt race where the Danny Gargan trainee quickly took up a spot behind the pacesetting favorite. Golden Tornado was happy to stay in that spot until he was asked for a little bit more half-way through the race and was angled wide.
Golden Tornado had the lead coming into the final furlong and was encouraged to keep running once he was in front to win by 3 ¼ lengths.
Racing for Reeves Thoroughbred Racing, Gainesway, and Legendary Thoroughbreds, he was also bred and sold by Gainesway with a $475,000 price tag when he left the Keeneland September pavilion.
This colt is the second winner from three to race out of the stakes placed Ruby Trust. That mare is the dam of the exciting undefeated runner Verifire whose three wins include a Maxfield Stakes victory. Ruby Trust is the only stakes performer out of Grade 3 winner Queen ofthe Catsle but is one of four winners out of the mare.
This page includes stakes performers under each of Golden Tornado’s first four dams with one of Queen ofthe Catsle’s stakes performing half-sisters the dam of multiple stakes winner Soloshot.
Gainesway is also offering Golden Tornado’s OLYMPIAD yearling half-sister as Hip 1267 at the upcoming Keeneland September Yearling Sale. Ruby Trust returned to MCKINZIE for 2026.
