Paradise City gave MCKINZIE a fifth winner of the year when she followed up her runner up finish in the Cash Run Stakes with an Allowance Optional Claiming victory at Gulfstream.
A winner on debut here last year, she was searching for her second career victory in the 1 1/16-mile dirt race. She was off to a good start when she broke well and raced just a few lengths off the leaders early on.
Those horses dueled with each other throughout much of the race with Paradise City waiting for her turn. That came as the field hit the quarter pole and jockey Edgard Zayas moved her outside the other horses.
Coming wide into the stretch, Paradise City secured the lead soon after and pulled away from there. With no challengers in the stretch, she romped to a six length victory to take her record to three top two finishes in five starts.
Trained by Saffie Joseph for C2 Racing Stable, Kuehne Racing, Shining Stables, Paul Braverman, and Timothy Pinch, Paradise City was bred by Don Alberto.
Out of Grade 2 winner Washington Bridge, Paradise City is one of two stakes performers for her dam alongside Grade 3 winner Mnasek. The filly is also a half-sister to the dam of Grade 2 winner Wentrue and stakes placed With Passion.
Stakes form is strong throughout the page with Washington Bridge one of five stakes performers out of dual stakes winner Stirling Bridge, who is one of two stakes performers out of her own Grade 3 winning dam.
MCKINZIE leads all second crop sires by number of 2025 stakes performers with three this year while his five winners is fourth best among the group.
