MCKINZIE Colt Impressive in TDN ‘Rising Star’ Performance

It was a Thoroughbred Daily News ‘Rising Star’ for MCKINZIE at Saratoga on Saturday when Chancer McPatrick broke his maiden on debut at Saratoga.

The $725,000 OBS April purchase made his debut going 6 ½ furlongs on the dirt as the race favorite and was content to race well off the leader as the second-to-last place runner in the race. It looked like Chancer McPatrick would have his work cut out for him to get anywhere near the leaders, but he showed off his talent in the stretch.

Still far back as the field turned into the stretch, Chancer McPatrick showed a massive turn of foot in the final furlong to go from eight lengths back to fly past the leader just before the line. Jockey Flavien Prat gave his mount a vigorous hand ride in the final sixteenth to win by a length in a huge performance.

Trained by Chad Brown for Flanagan Racing, the Rigney Racing-bred was also a $260,000 yearling before Kimmel & Sallusto signed the ticket for him in April.

Chancer McPatrick is the second winner out of a winning daughter of the Grade 1 winner Dream Empress. Dream Empress is also the granddam of multiple stakes winner Fireball Baby.

There is plenty of stakes form throughout the page with Grade 1 winners Bell’s The One, Prenup, and Yonaguska among the many stakes winners listed.

MCKINZIE is the sire of three winners from his first crop with seven other runners placing in their own runs.
