LOCKED Set for Exciting Keeneland November

The first half of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale is going to be a big week for dual Grade 1 winner LOCKED when the stallion sees 21 mares carrying his foals go through the ring in the first three books.

The first mare carrying a foal by LOCKED goes through the ring as Hip 144 with Legacy Bloodstock.

Eight-year-old Malibu Moon mare Moonshine Dreamer is a two-time winner carrying her second foal into the ring. The mare’s Grade 3 winning dam Speed Seeker has gone three-for-three with her winners to runners with her 3-year-old Faithful Departed leading the charge.

That Grade 3 winner provided the page with a timely update when second in the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup (G1) on October 10. It was the second Grade 1 placing for the filly, who was also second in the Belmont Oaks (G1) in July.

Hip 390 comes into the ring with a huge update when Highgate-offered Desert Illusion sells just days after her Grade 3-placed half-sister’s son Further Ado won the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1).

Desert Illusion had already received an update from that runner when Further Ado was second in the Pennsylvania Derby (G1) after winning the Blue Grass S. (G1) earlier this year. The colt is the second stakes winner out of Sky Dreamer after Grade 2 winner Kimbearb but isn’t the only Grade 1 winner on the page. Desert Illusion is a granddaughter of champion and six-time Grade 1 winner Beautiful Pleasure and half-sister to TAPIT’s Grade 1 winning Dream Dancing.

The stakes producing Wonder Brew sells with Hunter Valley Farm as Hip 1134 carrying to LOCKED on a March 16 cover.

Wonder Brew has produced four winners from five to race with that fifth runner a placed runner. Her foals are led by multiple stakes winner and multiple Grade 3-placed Gold Sweep and seven-time winner Brew Pub. Her unnamed 2-year-old also sold for $170,000 last year with her yearling bringing $250,000 from Kenny McPeek this year.

Wonder Brew is out of Canadian champion Ginger Brew, who has produced eight winners led by stakes winner Shamans Girl and three stakes placed runners.

The Grade 1-placed Saucy Lady T sells with Scott Mallory as agent for Determined Stud as Hip 1445.

Carrying her third foal on a March 12 cover, Saucy Lady T was third in the Spinaway (G1) and had two other graded stakes placings as well for earnings of $159,525 during her career. Her 2-year-old sold for $190,000 last year while her owners retained her OLYMPIAD yearling filly.

Saucy Lady T is out of the stakes winner and Grade 3-placed Fila Primera, who is one of two stakes performers and two stakes producers out of Southern Strike. Southern Strike’s relatives include Grade 2 winner Promenade Girl and stakes winner Dattts Awesome. Promenade Girl in turn produced the Grade 1 winning Cavorting.

Selling as Hip 1658 with Gainesway, Fame And Fortune has produced two stakes performers from three runners.

That mare’s best runner is the stakes winner and multiple Grade 1-placed Gulfport and the Grade 2-placed Favor with her third runner also placed on the track. Gulfport was the most popular stallion in Florida this year when breeding 167 mares. The mare has a 2-year-old by Uncle Mo and weanling by Life Is Good to come.

Fame and Fortune is out of the dual Grade 1 winner Stop Traffic, who was also a successful broodmare. The mare’s nine winners included five stakes performers, led by Fame and Fortune’s Grade 1 winning full brother Cross Traffic and her stakes winning half-siblings Thirteen Arrows and Exodus. She’s also one of five stakes performers out of Stop Traffic.
