It was a third 2021 stakes win on a third surface for KARAKONTIE’s None Above The Law on Friday at Del Mar when the 3-year-old romped in the Real Good Deal Stakes over seven furlongs on the dirt.
None Above The Law broke well and happily raced in third under Flavien Prat a few paths wide. Prat moved his mount to the rail half way down the backstretch and settled in to watch the leaders duel themselves out.
None Above The Law made his move as they turned into the stretch and gave Prat next to no work to do from there. Prat gave his mount some hand urging as they entered the final furlong then sat down to enjoy the ride as None Above The Law romped home by 5 ¼ lengths over multiple graded stakes winner The Chosen Vron.
“The Chosen Vron towered over the field, but he didn’t fire today,” said trainer Peter Miller. Our horse tries every time and Flavien (Prat) gave him a great ride, so we couldn’t be happier.”
Proving to be a durable runner with nine of his 13 career starts coming this year, None Above The Law has won four of his races in 20210 with two other second place finishes, all but one of those at the stakes level.
Eight of his starts this year have come in stakes company with wins in the Silky Sullivan Stakes on the synthetic surface, the Alcatraz Stakes on the turf, and the Read Good Stakes on the dirt. He also finished second in the California Cup Derby on dirt and the Snow Chief Stakes on turf.
Trained by Miller for Downstream Racing, None Above The Law has $304,060 in earnings with eight top three finishes in 13 starts.
The gelding was bred by Kirk and Judy Robison out of the stakes winning Northern Afleet mare Legally Blanca, who was also multiple stakes placed. None Above The Law is also a half-brother to two-time winner False Accusation.
Legally Blanca is also a half-sister to Grade 2-placed Bombaguia with the family including Grade 1 winners Oleksandra and Forest Indigo.
None Above The Law is just one of KARAKONTIE’s multi-surface stakes winners alongside Princess Grace and Sole Volante – who won both on the dirt and the turf as well.
