Spanish Loveaffair remained undefeated with another scintillating victory, stepping up to stakes company in only the second start for the juvenile daughter of KARAKONTIE. An odds on favorite for the Sharp Susan Stakes at Gulfstream Park, Spanish Loveaffair had a two length lead entering the stretch for the mile test on the turf. She held off late closing bids from fellow rivals to win by over a length in a final time of 1:35.03, for owners Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, Michael Hernon, and Gary Barber.
Conditioned by Mark Casse, the undefeated daughter of KARAKONTIE tallies his fourth stakes winner of the year, fifth lifetime, from a limited number of starters. In fact, KARAKONTIE leads in percentage amongst Kentucky sires with 6.9% stakes winners to starters in 2020; followed by American Pharoah (6.5%), Into Mischief (6.4%), War Front (5.8%), etc.
Spanish Loveaffair was bred by Gainesway Ltd. out of the Unusual Heat mare Spanish Bunny. She is half to Grade 1 winner Spanish Queen from the immediate family of champion Bates Motel. Also a Gainesway sales grad, her full sister will sell as hip 3161 at Keeneland September with Gainesway.
