KARAKONTIE’s Grade 2 winner None Above The Law was back to his winning ways on Saturday with a victory in the Bertrando Stakes at Los Alamitos.
A stalwart on the California circuit for multiple seasons, the gray gelding was happy to take up residence as the back marker in the one-mile dirt race. The tightly compact field saw him sitting just off the leaders as he crept his way into contention.
His momentum was briefly stalled in the turn, but he was able to angle himself out for clear running at the top of the stretch and was quickly back in the chase. None Above The Law had to battle with Lovesick Blues near the line but edged away from that one to win by three quarters of a length with the third placed runner five lengths farther back.

Trained by Jorge Periban for Hector Castrellon, the Kirk and Judy Robison-bred’s seven victories include five stakes led by the Del Mar Derby (G2). In all, he has hit the board in 13 of his starts for $633,802 in earnings.
The 6-year-old is out of the stakes winning Legally Blanca, who is the dam of three winners from three to race. She is a half-sister to the Grade 2-placed Bombaguila and four other winners out of the stakes placed Wishful Legacy.
