KARAKONTIE's Kenzai Warrior to contest the Qipco 2000 Guineas (G1)

The first Classic entry from KARAKONTIE's first crop.

KARAKONTIE‘s Kenzai Warrior will contest the Qipco 2000 Guineas (G1) this Saturday at Newmarket Racecourse. The undefeated Grade 3 winner from the first crop of KARAKONTIE was last seen winning the Horris Hill S. (G3), also at Newmarket, last November. The three-year-old colt owned by Rae and Carol Borras was bred in Kentucky by John D. Gunther. A mere $6,000 purchase by agent Chad Schumer at the 2018 Keeneland September yearling sale, he was then offered at the Goffs UK Breeze Up sale last year and purchased by Howson & Houldsworth and current conditioner Roger Teal.

In a very deep field with four Aiden O’Brian trainees and Charlie Appleby’s multiple Grade 1 winner Pinatubo, Kenzai Warrior will be tested in this colt Classic. Although 25-1 on the morning line, trainer Roger Teal is optimistic about their chances, “I wouldn’t swap him for anyone. We like what we’ve got and we know he’s a good one. He’s going there with a live chance.” (via Callum Jamieson at The Sun)
