For the second straight year, Paulic Report’s Joe Nevills singled out KARAKONTIE as a value sire, naming him as the First Team Turf Sire.
Nevills believes the stallion is only getting better after a year where Grade 1 winner She Feels Pretty led his 11 stakes performers, and his consistent multiple graded stakes winner Princess Grace represented him at a top-class level in Australia.
KARAKONTIE’s 31.25% winning strike rate with his 64 turf starters and 6.25% strike rate of stakes winners only helped his case as one of the best value sires in North America.
“If you’ve got a big mare, he looks able to give her some athleticism. If you’ve got a rangy mare, he can contribute power to the equation. A breeder with a clear goal of getting a turf horse has a lot of different options with KARAKONTIE,” Nevills wrote.
“I see a lot of blue sky with Karakontie. He’s become a proven sire of turf winners – and quality winners, at that – and turf racing’s slice of the North American pie is only getting bigger. Whether you’re breeding or buying, Karakontie looks like a solid way into that sphere on a budget.”
