KARAKONTIE daughter Karakatsie was a hot commodity at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Winter Mixed Sale this week when Gulfstream Breeders went to $200,000 to buy the mare.
The Grade 2 placed 5-year-old sold as the fourth most expensive broodmare prospect in the sale and the second most expensive of the second session. She is the first foal out of Lemon Drop Kid mare Alexandrite, who is a half-sister to three winners from four to race.
Their dam Aguadilla is a full sister to Grade 3 winners Asakusa Genki and Assateague and a half-sister to graded stakes winners Rainha Da Bateria, Rabbit Run, and Kindegarden Kid in addition to Grade 1 placed He’s Had Enough.
This is also the family of champion Althea and Grade 1 winners Ali Oop and Ketoh.
KARAKONTIE is the sire of nine stakes winners and 17 stakes performers, led by Grade 1 winner Spendarella and multiple graded stakes winner and multiple Grade 1-placed Princess Grace.
