Grade 1 Relations Headline Gainesway Keeneland September Book 1 Offerings

It’s a 40-horse Book 1 for Gainesway next week at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale. Among those offerings are over 10 yearlings who are either siblings to Grade 1 winners or out of Grade 1 winners. In all, over 20 have graded stakes form on the page immediately.

Gainesway’s Keeneland September Yearling Sale graduates have found much success on the track with over 20 Grade 1 winners hailing from the consignment in the last decade. Among those are Belmont Stakes (G1) winners Arcangelo and Creator and Grade 1 winning Gainesway stallions OLYMPIAD  and TAPIT TRICE.

Hip 6 kicks off Gainesway’s Book 1 offerings on a high note with the filly hailing from Uncle Mo’s final crop.

Her dam is just as notable as her sire as the Oak Leaf S. (G1) winner Rigoletta. That mare is also the dam of Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) winner Battle of Midway and stakes winner and Grade 2-placed Moretti. Her daughters are also showing talent with one daughter producing stakes winner Upper Case and stakes placed Ever Smart.

Rigoletta isn’t the only Grade 1 producer out of Almost Aprom Queen. The dam of three stakes performers, Almost Aprom Queen is also the granddam of Cigar Mile (G1) winner Patternrecognition and Pacific Classic (G1) winner Mixto.

A half-brother to dual Grade 1 winner Raging Torrent goes through the ring as Hip 92.

This March-born colt is from the first crop of champion Up to the Mark and out of the winning Violence mare Violent Wave. One of 12 winners out of her own dam, Violent Wave is a half-sister to the Grade 3 winner The Nth Degree with all but one of her siblings winning two or more races.

Their dam Coastal Wave is a winning daughter of the stakes placed Orange Wave, who didn’t produce a stakes runner. Orange Wave, however, is one of three stakes performers out of a half-sister to champion Riva Ridge with multiple half-sisters producing multiple stakes horses.

Offered by Gainesway as Hip 110 is a Gun Runner half-sister to three-time Grade 1 winner Bellafina.

Their stakes placed dam is also the dam of multiple stakes winner and Grade 2-placed Diamond King from her three runners with her fourth runner placed. Akron Moon is out of the multiple Grade 3 winner Akronism, making her a half-sister to the Grade 2 winner have at it and to the dam of two other graded stakes performers.

Hip 118 is out of the dual Grade 1 winner American Gal, who has one winner from two to race.

This Not This Time yearling filly is a granddaughter of the Grade 2-placed American Story. That mare went on to produce American Gal’s stakes winning full brother Americanize, who was also second in a Grade 2 in addition to two other stakes performers.

American Story is a daughter of the stakes winning Holiday Runner, who also produced the Grade 1 winning duo of Reynaldothewizard and Seventh Street. Seventh Street herself produced Grade 2 winner and Grade 1-placed Lake Avenue and Grade 1-placed Marking.

Hailing from a strong family from top to bottom comes Not This Time’s Hip 181.

This colt has multiple connections to Gainesway, not only as a Gainesway yearling graduate but also as a half-brother to Gainesway’s young Grade 1 winning stallion TAPIT TRICE. That TAPIT son is one of three winners from four to race out of the stakes winner and Grade 3-placed Danzatrice.

Danzatrice is a half-sister to Champion 2-Year-Old Filly Jaywalk and to the dams of stakes winner Jupiter and the stakes placed Abdul. This is also the family of Grade 2 winners Mission Impazible and Forest Camp among others.

The first foal out of dual champion Goodnight Olive sells as Hip 238 on Tuesday.

Goodnight Olive not only is a champion, but also won two Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1) races among her four Grade 1 victories overall. The mare won nine of her 12 starts for nearly $2.2 million in earnings with all 12 of her starts seeing her finish in the top three.

Goodnight Olive is out of the multiple Grade 3 winner Salty Strike, who also produced the dams of Grade 3-placed Lexa and stakes placed Aquila Moon. Salty Strike is one of two stakes winners and five stakes performers out of the three-time winner Lake Huron. Lake Huron produced 10 winners from 13 runners overall. One of her other daughters also produced the Grade 3 winner Mohawk Trail.

A colt by TAPIT and out of Grade 1 winner Hard Not to Love sells as Hip 248 during the second session.

Hard Not to Love already has a TAPIT winner with her daughter So Like Silk breaking her maiden in her only start as the only runner out of the Grade 1 winner. Hard Not to Love is a half-sister to Canadian Horse of the Year Wonder Gadot and stakes winner and Grade 2-placed Solemn Tribute out of the winning Vindication mare Loving Vindication.

That mare is out of the Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed Chimichurri, who saw another daughter produce the Grade 1 winner Secret Spice with four daughters overall producing stakes horses.

A Nyquist half-sister to champion Sierra Leone sells as Hip 251 as one of Gainesway’s final Book 1 horses.

They are out of the Grade 1 winning Malibu Moon mare Heavenly Love, who has two foals to race as one of four stakes producers out of the stakes winner and multiple Grade 1-placed Darling My Darling. That mare is the granddam of Japanese Horse of the Year and U.S. champion Forever Young and Brazilian group winner Charles Do Bronx in addition to Sierra Leone for a truly international pedigree.

This filly’s third dam is the Grade 1 winner Roamin Rachel, who also produced Japanese Horse of the Year Zenno Rob Roy among others with Grade 1 winner Cat’s Cradle under the next dam.

Supplemented to the end of the second session is Hip 337 as the final offering of Book 1.

The TAPIT filly is a half-sister to two winners from two to race out of the multiple stakes winning Blame mare Queen Caroline – who is better known as the dam of champion Forte. Queen Caroline is one of three stakes performers out of the stakes winning Queens Plaza, who also produced Grade 3-paced Queen Teuta and the stakes placed K P Slickem among her six winners.
