Multiple Gainesway stallions were a hit at this year’s OBS Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds with DRAIN THE CLOCK’s big sale results joined by success from OLYMPIAD, MCKINZIE, and TAPIT.
OLYMPIAD’s first crop was led by a $230,000 colt purchased by Pelican from Caliente Thoroughbreds.
Selling as Hip 418, the colt is the first foal out of the More Than Ready mare Acoustic Shadow. That mare is a granddaughter of TAPIT’s Grade 3 winning War Echo, who produced the Grade 3 winning Munitions. War Echo is one of five stakes performers out of Wild Vision, whose four stakes winners include Grade 1 winner Pyro and stakes winner and Grade 1-placed Farrier. Her stakes placed dam Teardrop produced three stakes performers of her own as well.
MCKINIZE’s eight sold averaged $236,250, led by a $900,000 filly who breezed in :9.3.
Purchased by Donato Lanni for Baoma Corp from Wavertree, she is out of the winning City Zip mare E Built This City. That mare is a very productive producer as the dam of five winners from five to race, led by the seven-time winner and stakes placed Fulminate. E Built This City is also a half-sister to the stakes placed duo of Anyriderill Do and Vivo Enamorada along with the dam of the stakes placed Uptownblingithome.
There are stakes performers under all four dams on this page with four winning stakes.
MyRacehorse and L & N Racing went to $425,000 for a colt offered by Sequel Bloodstock during the second session.
Breezing in :10.1, he is out of the multiple stakes placed Ali Blue, who retired with six wins. The mare’s first to race is also a multiple winner. Ali Blue is one of three stakes performers and seven winners out All About Allison alongside the Grade 3-placed Honed and stakes placed Atras. All About Allison is a half-sister to Doc N Roll and another stakes producing mare out of the dual stakes winner Georgies Doctor.
Buyers only had two chances to purchase a TAPIT at this sale, but KSI went to $550,000 to secure one offered by Paul Sharp out of Be Fair.
A Grade 3 winner who also placed in a Grade 1, Be Fair is a second-generation Grade 1 producer as the dam of the Grade 1 winning And Tell Me Nolies. In all, Be Fair has produced eight winners from eight to race. Be Fair is one of two stakes winners out of Go Donna Go, with that mare’s other stakes winning being the Grade 1 winner Macho Again.
There are six other stakes performers under this colt’s third dam, including a Grade 1 placed runner.
The next chance for buyers to purchase juveniles by Gainesway stallions comes next month at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May 2-Year-Olds In Training Sale.
