MCKINZIE was the sire of the third most expensive colt at the Fasig-Tipton July Sale on Tuesday when Ryder Finney won the bidding war at $285,000.
Offered by co-breeder Hunter Valley Farm, who bred him with Brian Graves, he’s the second foal out of Margaretta. That mare is familiar with the Gainesway breeding shed, also having a KARAKONTIE juvenile filly to come. A daughter of Munnings, Margaretta is a full sister to Grade 3 winner Fancy Dress Party and stakes winner Will Munnings in addition to being a half-sister to the stakes placed Neyra’s Dancer.
Fancy Dance Party has also been a successful broodmare with her runners including stakes winners Gallivant and TAPIT’s Grade 2-placed Tux. This colt’s second dam is the two-time winner The Schavegen, who is a granddaughter of Grade 3 winner and Grade 2-placed Meafara. Meafara didn’t produce any stakes winners but did produce two dams of stakes winners. Three of the four dams on the page have stakes horses under their names.
MCKINZIE’s three yearlings sold at this sale averaged $163,333, sitting at over $47,000 more than the sale average.
Seeing his first crop runners hit the track now, OLYMPIAD’s second crop got the sales season off to a good start at Fasig-Tipton, led by a $180,000 colt.
Offered by Gainesway out of stakes placed Blame mare Torrent, the colt bred by Candy Meadows was purchased by Baccari Bloodstock and Kenny McPeek as agents. Torrent is the dam of one winner from one to race with the winner having earnings of $155,752 to his name.
She is one of two winners from three to race out of stakes winner and Grade 1-placed Tidal Pool, whose granddam is the Grade 1 winning Pirate’s Revenge. In all, every dam on this page is either stakes placed or has produced at least one stakes winner.
DRAIN THE CLOCK’s momentum from the 2-year-old sales carried over to his second crop yearlings with D.R. Investments buying one by the stallion for $125,000 at the sale.
Offered by St George Sales, the Danielle Loya-bred is out of the stakes winning Sliver Of Hope. Winning three races herself, Sliver Of Hope has produced three winners from three to race with the group led by seven-time winner Prepare for Glory.
Sliver of Hope is one of seven winners from eight to race out of the winning Silver Deputy mare Sliver of Silver, who also produced stakes winner Sweet Redemption and stakes placed Silver Summation. Five of Sliver of Silver’s seven winners won multiple races with 37 wins between them.
Just days after he registered another winner, DRAIN THE CLOCK saw five of his six offerings find new buyers.
