Gainesway Looks to Continue Success in Keeneland Book 2

Gainesway’s strong Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale consignment continues in Book 2 with 38 on offer during the sale’s third session.

Selling as Gainesway’s second through the ring when offered as Hip 741 in foal to Liam’s Map on an April 9 cover is the Speightstown mare At the Start.

This mare’s first foal is an unraced 2-year-old by War Front and her second is an Omaha Beach weanling colt selling as Hip 742. While she doesn’t have any runners, At the Start’s page shows she has plenty of potential. The 7-year-old is a half-sister to dual Grade 1 winner Patch Adams and the winning Wall Street out of Well Humored.

Well Humored was a stakes winner herself and is also a half-sister to Grade 1 winner American Patriot and to Grade 3 winner Parchment Party, who added two stakes placings to his record in August and September. Well Humored is also a full sister to Grade 2 winner Muqtaser and is out of a winning full sister to dual Grade 1 winner Well Armed.

Adding an update to her own page is Hip 746, the Mendelssohn mare Austere.

#6 AUSTERE ($10.04) charges down the @KYDownsRacing stretch to win the $500,000 Juvenile Fillies Stakes!

A stakes winner as a juvenile, Austere is a four-time stakes placed runner with her latest being a third in the Ontario Fashion S. (G3) at Woodbine on October 17. In all, the 5-year-old has eight top three finishes in 17 starts for $557,377 in earnings.

She is one of three stakes performers out of the stakes placed Argumentative, who is also the dam of Group 1 winner Epicuris and Group 3-placed Indeed. This is a huge page with others named including Grade 2 winner Costume and Grade 3 winner Dance Dress with the stakes form continuing far off the page as well.

Hip 803 is a multiple Grade 2-placed half-sister to promising young Gainesway stallion DRAIN THE CLOCK.

Corposo finished in the top three in third of her six starts with both her stakes appearances ending with Grade 2 placings. The 5-year-old is carrying her first foal by Constitution on a February 22 cover and looks to follow her family’s producing tradition. In addition to her dam’s own Grade 1 production record, other dams on the page have produced Grade 2 winner Communique, champion Dali and six other stakes performers.

A regally bred National Treasure weanling colt sells as Hip 810.

This colt is a half-brother to the stakes winner Dance d’Oro and to the dam of TAPIT’s multiple stakes placed Game Warden. His A.P. Indy dam is a stakes winner out of the great stakes winner and Grade 2-placed Quiet Dance. Quiet Dance not only produced Horse of the Year Saint Liam and Grade 1 winner Funtastic but is also the granddam of Horse of the Year Gun Runner and Grade 1 winner Buster’s Ready with many other stakes performers also listed under her on this page.

Carrying to Flightline on a February 19 cover is Hip 885.

I’m Baffled is the dam of one runner with that 3-year-old by Gun Runner placed in his first start in August. The mare also has a TAPIT juvenile filly and a Munnings yearling colt. Unplaced in her only start, this mare is a Medaglia d’Oro half-sister to dual Grade 1 winner Constitution, Grade 2 winner Boynton, and Grade 3 winner Jacaranda. Jacaranda is also the dam of stakes winner and Grade 1-placed Be You and stakes placed American West – who has two stakes performers of her own. I’m Baffled’s Grade 3-placed dam Baffled is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Emcee and Grade 2 winner Surger among the eight other winners out of Surf Club.

Carrying her third foal by Oscar Performance, the winning mare Lakeside Music sells as Hip 914.

The mare’s first foal is a Munnings yearling colt who sold for $140,000 at Keeneland September this year with her second being an American Pharoah weanling filly. The mare is pregnant to Oscar Performance on a March 21 cover.

Lakeside Music is a half-sister to two winners out of winning More Than Ready mare Summer Sweet, whose crowning achievement thus far is champion mare and five-time Grade 1 winner She Feels Pretty. Summer Sweet is one of six winners out of her own dam, alongside the stakes winning duo of Summer Breezing and Adirondack Summer. Her Grade 1-placed half-sister Summer Solo is also the dam of three stakes performers, led by Grade 3 winner Solo Album and TAPIT’s stakes winning Maedean.

A winning full sister to TAPIT’s champion Untapable and half-sister to Grade 1 winner Paddy O’Prado sells as Hip 1117.

Selling in foal to Gunite on a March 10 cover after foaling a colt by that stallion this year, Untapped is a proven broodmare. The dam of six winners from six to race, that group is led by her stakes winner and Grade 2 winning son Unload who is by Gunite’s sire Gun Runner. That Gun Runner cross is a successful one for her family with the mare’s full sisters producing Grade 2 winner Red Route One, stakes winners Red Run and Dimatic, and Grade 1-placed Dreamlike by the stallion.

All of Gainesway’s Book 2 offerings sell on Thursday, October 4 with the session starting at 10am.
