It was a good day at Ellis Park for TAPIT on Saturday when he saw daughter Flippant win the Kentucky Downs TVG Preview Dueling Grounds Oaks and Siem Riep finish second in another stakes on the card.
Breaking her maiden by three lengths at Ellis Park last out, the G. Watts Humphrey Jr. homebred was immediately sent to stakes company and proved it was a smart move. With Rafael Bejarano aboard, Flippant settled near the back of the field in the 1 1/16 mile turf race as the leader opened up multiple lengths on the field.
Rounding the turn, Flippant still had plenty of work to do but she kicked into full gear in the final furlong. Entering the final sixteenth, Flippant was in full flight to get the lead. Her nose was in front in the shadow of the wire and by the time she crossed the line she was half a length in front.
