It was a TAPIT stakes winner on Saturday when Summerintahoe earned her first stakes victory at Laurel Park in the Dahlia S. in her second stakes attempt.
Making her first start since winning her 2025 finale in September, the Michael Ewing trainee shot to the front immediately after break in the one-mile turf race. She was left alone for much of the race, maintaining at least a length early before pulling away by a few lengths down the backstretch.
She had a few lengths on the field coming into the stretch but had to dig in late when another runner came after her. A determined runner, she held on by a nose for career win number four.
The earner of $299,968, Summerintahoe races for Tier Racing and has finished in the top three in seven of 15 starts.
Bred by Fred Hertrich and the Tapit Syndicate, she is one of three winners from three to race out of the stakes placed Tossup. Tossup is one of three stakes performers out of the three-time stakes winning Spritely, who also produced dual stakes winner and Grade 3-placed Pauseforthecause and the stakes placed Aggelos the Great. The family also includes champion Juliana and Grade 3 winner Ailalea among others.
Summerintahoe is the fourth stakes winner of the year for TAPIT, who has also sired eight stakes performers, including a Grade 1 placed runner.
