First MCKINZIE Juveniles On Offer at OBS March

After their popularity at the weanling and yearling sales the past two years, MCKINZIE’s first crop makes its juvenile sales debut on March 12 – 14 at the OBS March 2-Year-Olds In Training Sale with 19 cataloged to sell.

A Kings Equine-consigned MCKINZIE colt kicks off the stallion’s offerings when selling as Hip 17 early during the first day after breezing in :9.4.

Hip 17 is out of the multiple stakes winning Altamura, one of 12 stakes performers on the page. The colt was a $135,000 Keeneland November purchase as a weanling and is from the family of Grade 2 winner Private Creed and Grade 3 winner Volcat among the stakes performers on the page.

Closely related to the stakes winning Windmill is Hip 78 offered by Gene Recio, a half-sister to one winner from one to race.

The February-born filly is out of Bodebabe, a winning half-sister to the Street Sense mare and a stakes performing Nyquist gelding as well. Another one of the mare’s siblings is the dam of multiple stakes placed Rumble Strip Ron with Bodebabe one of five winners from five to race.

This page is strong from top to bottom with third dam Scarlet Tango the dam of Grade 1 winners Tara’s Tango and Visionaire among her four stakes winners. Three of Scarlet Tango’s daughters are also stakes producers with those including Grade 3 winners Capensis and Toro Strike

A half-brother to multiple stakes winner and Grade 2-placed Merveilleux sells as Hip 89 with Wavertree Stables.

The MCKINZIE colt’s winning Holy Bull dam Breech Inlet is the dam of two winners from three to race and saw this Ontario-bred colt sell for $205,000 at last year’s Keeneland September Yearling Sale. Breech Inlet is one of seven winners from nine to race out of Muneefa, with that mare producing Grade 2 winner Bauble Queen and stakes winner Leamington. Bauble Queen is also the dam of multiple Grade 3 winner Blitzkrieg.

Each of the colt’s first six dams have produced at least one stakes winner with his third dam being the Grade 1 winner By Land By Sea. She not only produced Grade 3 winner Fahal with three of her daughters also producing stakes performers.

Breech Inlet visited another Gainesway stallion last year as part of Grade 1 winner OLYMPIAD’s first book.

Grade 2-placed Classy Act is the dam of Hip 133 offered by Eddie Woods.

A $225,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling, he is the first foal out the Into Mischief mare. Classy Act is a half-sister to last year’s multiple stakes placed juvenile Gold Lightning with their dam a half-sister to Grade 3-placed Blackberry Wine. Each of the three dams on the page with racing age foals have produced at least one stakes performer with those runners including champion and Grade 1 winner Tempera and Grade 3 winner and Grade 1 placed Equerry among the eight stakes performers named.

Bred by LNJ Foxwoods in Ontario, Hip 257 offered by Fabian Sales is out of the Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed Gemswick Park. Gemswick Park is also the dam of stakes winner Scotland and TAPIT’s multiple stakes placed Tapped with another daughter producing 2023 juvenile stakes placed De Regreso.

Speightstown mare Gemswick Park is the dam of five winners from five to race with three of those runners winning more than one race. Gemswick Park is one of three stakes performers out of her stakes winning dam Queen’s Park, who also produced the stakes placed duo of Sheraton Park and Queen’s College with all three producing at least one stakes performer with two other daughters producing stakes performers as well.

Gemswick Park is a seventh-generation stakes producer with each of her first five dams producing stakes winners. Those included among those produced are Grade 1 winners General Assembly, Chief Honcho, and Poet’s Voice.

Hip 412 consigned by Top Line Sales is a half-sister to two winners from three to race out of the multiple winning Big Brown mare Lovely Daughter.

Lovely Daughter is a half-sister to the Grade 1 winning Starship Truffles and four-time winner Desert Wonder with their stakes winning dam Bobbie Use producing four winners overall. Three of the four dams on the page have produced stakes winners with the group including stakes winner and 16-time winner La Reine’s Terms and stakes winner and nine-time winner Sunset Party.

Kinsman Farm offers Mystic Sea as Hip 536, a half-sister to TAPIT’s multiple stakes winning Congruent, after the filly breezed in :9.4.

Mystic Sea was purchased for $200,000 at last year’s Keeneland September Yearling Sale and is a half-sister to stakes winner Oceans Map as well as Congruent. They are out of Grade 2 winner Part The Seas, who is one of two stakes performers out of Go Marching Thru. Go Marching Thru is a full sister to champion and Grade 3 winner Portcullis and Grade 2 placed Walls of Jericho.

Hip 744 is the first foal out of the three-time winning Take Charge Angel and offered by Kings Equine after selling for $400,000 at least year’s Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale.

Take Charge Angel is a half-sister to dual Grade 1 winner Cave Rock and three other winners from five to race with the group including four-time winner Frosted Angel. They are out of the Grade 3 winner Georgie’s Angel, who herself is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Lawn Ranger.

The colt’s family shows that Take Charge Angel has every chance of being a successful producer. Each of her first five dams have produced at least one stakes winner with all but one of them producing at least two stakes performers.

His breeders were impressed with him from the start, sending Take Charge Angel back to MCKINZIE the year he was born to produce another colt in 2023. She was bred to TAPIT last year for her third foal.

The final MCKINZIE offered at the sale is the Top Line Sales-consigned Hip 826, a $200,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling purchase last year.

The colt is a half-brother to three winners from four to race out of the winning Awesome Again mare Waverly Place. This is a strong family with his fourth dam being the champion Winning Colors, who is the granddam of his stakes winning second dam La Conseillante. La Conseillante is also the dam of multiple graded stakes placed War Envoy.

Among the 13 stakes performers named on this colt’s page are Grade 1 winner Eskimo Kisses and champions Il Banchiere and Adjudicate.

The OBS March 2-Year-Olds In Training Sale Under Tack Show runs from March 6 – 9 with sessions starting at 8am each morning. The sale starts on March 12 and runs through March 14, starting at 11am daily.
