First Foal is a Filly for Gainesway’s Grade 1 Winner MUTH

The first reported foal by multiple Grade 1 winner MUTH was born at Gainesway Farm on January 1st in Lexington, Ky.

The foal is a filly with a large white blaze, born at 2:30 a.m. on New Year’s Day out of the winning Tapit mare Marlinspike. She is a half-sister to the multiple stakes winner Bullet.

Marlinspike is a daughter of Surfside, the champion 3-year-old filly of 2000, whose career highlights included a win against older males in the Clark Handicap (G2). She became a successful broodmare for both Overbrook Farm and later Gainesway as the dam or granddam of G1 winner Zillzaal and G3 winners Irish Surf and High Celebrity.

“I was really excited by the quality of MUTH’s first foal, born on New Year’s Day,” said Gainesway General Manager Brian Graves. “She is very leggy with a beautiful long neck and sloping shoulder, plenty of hip and correct. If this foal is an indication of what’s to come, then the future is incredibly bright for this stallion.”

MUTH is a son of Good Magic who earned over $1.5 million on the racetrack with victories in the American Pharoah Stakes (G1) as a 2-year-old and the Arkansas Derby (G1) at three. He was the only stallion retired for 2025 to be a Grade 1 winner at two and three.

Bred by Don Alberto Corp, MUTH is out of the Uncle Mo mare Hoppa. MUTH was a $2 million sale-topper at the 2023 OBS March 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale, purchased by Donato Lanni for Zedan Racing.  He hails from the immediate family of champion Rollout the Carpet and G1 winner War Command.

MUTH was one of North America’s most popular stallions during his debut season at stud in 2025, covering 185 mares. He will stand the 2026 season at Gainesway for an advertised fee of $30,000.
