Essential Quality, a two-year-old son of TAPIT, broke his maiden impressively on debut at Churchill Downs on Kentucky Derby Day for trainer Brad Cox and owner/breeder Godolphin.
Going 6 furlongs on the dirt with Shaun Bridgmohan up, Essential Quality (TAPIT) loomed behind the leaders as they turned for home. With no room to squeeze through, the colt was piloted three-wide at the three-sixteenths pole, then rallied home in a final time of 1:09.98.
