Dream Quest First Winner for DRAIN THE CLOCK

It was a first winner from a first starter for DRAIN THE CLOCK on Thursday at Santa Anita when Dream Quest won a Maiden Special Weight.

Going off as the favorite in the 4 ½ furlong dirt race, Dream Quest broke out of one of the wider gates but shot immediately to the lead. Sprinting away from the field, she comfortably led by over a length rounding the bend.

She had to work hard in the stretch, however, with two other horses trying to catch her. Dream Quest proved to relish a fight, never letting the other horse in front to win by a head.

Trained by Steve Knapp, the filly is raced by her breeder Terry Lovingier with her trainer and with John Moroney.

This is the first foal out of the Collected mare Dream Collector, who is out of a half-sister to the stakes winning I’m Mom’s Favorite and the stakes placed duo of Toutsie Rules and Charm City Girl. The filly’s fourth dam is two-time Grade 1 winner Tout Charmant, whose three stakes performers include TAPIT’s Grade 2 winner and Grade 1-placed Dancing House. Dancing House produced the stakes placed Baladi.

A Grade 1 winning son of Maclean’s Music, DRAIN THE CLOCK has seen his 2-year-olds in high demand at this year’s juvenile sales, bringing up to $1.1 million at the first two major sales of the season.
