DRAIN THE CLOCK’s Fasig-Tipton New York Bred Sale offerings were led by a $270,000 colt purchased by top trainer Mike Maker late in Monday’s session.
Offered by Colin Brennan Bloodstock, the colt is the second foal out of the three-time winning Blame daughter Juluca and was sold last fall by breeder Singing Bridge Stable.
Juluca is a full sister to Blame’s Grade 3 winner Daisy, who has already proven to have producing talent with her two winners including multiple stakes winner Botanical. Juluca is also a half-sister to multiple stakes winner King Kumbalay with the trio three of six winners out of the winning Lovely Stay.
That mare is one of eight winners out of her own Grade 2 winning dam Ratings, whose runners were led by Grade 3 winner Recording and stakes winner Smart Growth. Recording produced multiple Grade 2 winner Smart Bid and stakes winners Representing and Deal Making with her stakes placed daughter producing the Grade 2 winner Vanishing and an unraced daughter producing Grade 2 winner Anthony’s Cross.
High Tide and Peter Riley purchased a Taylor Made Sales-offered colt out of Picturesque for $195,000 on Sunday.
The dam of five winners from six to race, Smart Strike mare Picturesque saw her 3-year-old son Arctic Outbreak win again after the catalog was released. Picturesque is a half-sister to the stakes winning trio of Outplay, Raconteur, and Katerbug, with her three-time winning full sister Miss Squeal producing Grade 2 winner and multiple Grade I-placed Spielberg.
This colt’s third dam of Grade 1 winner Dream Deal who sees his stakes placed granddam Miss Kate as one of her five stakes performers. Her Grade 1 winning daughter Clear Mandate is also the dam of Grade 1 winner Strong Mandate while Grade 2 winning daughter Dream Scheme is the great granddam of Grade 1 winner Romantic Vision.
Other yearlings by DRAIN THE CLOCK sold for $175,000, $145,000, $90,000, etc. with an average of $113,500 for his 10 sold.
