DRAIN THE CLOCK Filly Wins Monday Maiden Special Weight

DRAIN THE CLOCK started the week with a winner when Hot for the Game won a Presque Isle Maiden Special Weight by 2 ¾ lengths on Monday.

The six furlong synthetic race saw Hot for the Game off to a slow start with the juvenile giving the leader nearly a nine-length lead. Jockey Taylor Kingsley was patient with the filly, letting her steadily close the advantage in a move that paid off.

By the time they hit the stretch, Hot for the Game was one of the prominent runners and clicked into another gear when chasing down the leader. She was in full stride in the final furlong and flew past the leader in the final sixteenth and kept flying to build a sizable advantage.

By the time they hit the line, she was 2 ¾ lengths in front with the third placed runner over 10 lengths behind.

It was the second start for the Elkstone Group runner, who had also finished third on debut for trainer Ron Potts.

Bred by Joan Wilson, Hot for the Game is the second winner from two runners out of the winning Nebo. That mare is a full sister to multiple stakes winner Miss Narcissist and the stakes placed Fenwick Hall and out of a half-sister to stakes winner Mighty Eros, who produced Grade 2 winner and Grade 1-placed Faypien.

Hot for the Game’s page also includes Grade 1 winner Power Squeeze and Grade 3 winner Fulleffort among others.

The sire of two stakes performers from his first crop, this is DRAIN THE CLOCK’s sixth winner.
