Demand Continues for TAPWRIT Yearlings at Keeneland September

Having the most six figure yearlings of any first-crop sire at the Fasig-Tipton July Sale earlier this summer, TAPIT’s Belmont Stakes (G1) winning son TAPWRIT was again in demand at the Keeneland September Sale.

In all, he saw 40 of his 42 yearlings offered sold for up to $200,000 during the 11 session sale.

That top-priced colt was purchased by Tracy Farmer from the Taylor Made Sales Agency as a half-brother to three winners from three to race. His two-time winning mare Delray Beach’s three runners are led by stakes winner Hopping Not Hoping. Delray Beach is just the latest stakes producer in her family with her stakes-placed dam Matter of Law producing stakes-placed Mia d’Cougar and Delray Beach’s stakes-placed granddam Ruth Ann d’Or one of four stakes performers for her own dam.

In addition to Matter of Law, Ruth Ann d’Or is also the granddam of multiple stakes performers led by Grade 1 winner Wonder Lady Anne L and stakes winner Lezendary.

TAPWRIT also saw Down The Stretch go to $165,000 to purchase a TAPWRIT filly from Scott Mallory for $165,000.

Out of the Grade 3 winner Blueeyesintherein, the filly has seen three of her four siblings win at least one race. Showing that she is passing on the precociousness that had her win as a juvenile, two of Blueeyesintherein’s winners won at two including this year’s 2-year-old.

Coming from the family of Grade 1 winner Hevea, the filly sees five stakes winners and 13 stakes performers overall named on her page. Overall, her young dam is the seventh generation of her family to either be a stakes performer or produce stakes performers.

Top Hat Tango’s colt by TAPWRIT was snatched up by Waves Bloodstock for $160,000 as another six figure TAPWRIT colt sold by Taylor Made.

The second foal for his winning dam Top Hat Tango, who is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Fast Bullet and Grade 3-placed Blaires Roaring Star. Top Hat Tango’s half-sister has already proven that their dam is passing on her producing ability as the dam of stakes-placed Serengeti.

The stakes success runs through the generations with the colt’s third dam being the champion and successful broodmare Brave Raj. Among those descending from that mare are Grade 1 winners Almanaar, Lady Prancealot, and champion Naafiae among others.

TAPWRIT’s first crop was also represented by  a $105,000 purchase by Kinga Farm.

Consigned by Legacy Bloodstock, the colt has quite the family legacy behind him with stakes performers under four of his first five dams. While his dam Cashconsiderations isn’t one of those stakes performers, she did win and is the dam of a winner from her first to race. Cashconsiderations is one of eight winners for Latin Lynx, who is also the dam of Grade 1 winner Sean Avery and two other stakes performers.

Proving the producing talent is being carried on, two of Latin Lynx’s daughters have produced stakes performers themselves, led by multiple Grade 2 winner and Grade 1-placed Pretty N Cool. The colt’s next two dams are not only stakes producers themselves but also stakes performers as well.

TAPWRIT’S sire had another top Keeneland September Yearling Sale with TAPIT’s offerings led by a $1.3 million colt at the sale.

That colt was purchased from the Gainesway consignment by Whisper Hill Farm, who has been a major supporter of TAPIT over the years. The purchase came only months after TAPIT’s Whisper Hill homebred Graceful Princess won the Molly Pitcher Stakes (G3).

The colt is the second foal out of multiple stakes winner Danzatrice, who saw her 2-year-old place after the catalog was released. Danzatrice is a three-quarter sister to 2018 Champion 2-Year-Old Filly Jaywalk. The family also includes multiple Grade 2 winner and Grade 1-placed Mission Impazible and Grade 2 winner Forest Camp among the four stakes winners out of the colt’s stakes winning fourth dam La Paz.

In addition to purchasing a yearling by KARAKONTIE, West Bloodstock went to $725,000 for a TAPIT colt named Mindtap for Repole Stable and St. Elias.

As to be expected of any yearling by the champion sire, Mindtap is an extremely well-bred individual as a half-brother to three-time Grade 1 winner and multiple Grade 1-placed Curalina. That mare is just one of five winners out of the Grade 2-placed Whatdreamsrmadeof, whose runners also include Grade 3-placed Dream Spinner.

The colt’s first six dams have all produced stakes performers with five of them producing stakes winners, including his own granddam. That mare’s eight winners include stakes winners Ladyecho and Soros and Grade 2-placed Wall of Compassion in addition to Whatdreamsrmadeof.

KARAKONTIE has proven to be a successful sire of versatile racehorses with his first three crops and at the September Sale, he was rewarded with a $310,000 colt in Book 1.

Consigned by Gainesway, the colt purchased by West Bloodstock for Repole Stable and St. Elias is out of the stakes-placed Graceful Grit. A young mare, Graceful Grit was bred to KARAKONTIE for her 2-year-old as well and immediately got a winner when 2-year-old filly Karacrown won on debut earlier this year.

Graceful Grit is one of three stakes performers out of Liu, who saw a second daughter produce a stakes winner in late August after Wootton Asset won the New Kent County Virginia Derby (G3). That runner had already earned three stakes placings since moving to the United States late last year.
