The regally-bred TAPIT daughter Tap To Open became the newest stakes winner for her illustrious family when the filly won Tuesday’s Catheryn Sophia at Parx.
The Whisper Hill Farm homebred was looking for her third straight win in the one-mile dirt race and immediately gunned for the lead. She stuck her head in front and was able to take a quick breath when opening up about a length down the backstretch.
When they hit the turn, Ms Sophistication made another run at her and she briefly conceded the lead while the pair dueled well ahead of most of the field. Neither filly was willing to give in but Tap To Open was the more determined of the pair and won by a head.

Trained by Brad Cox, Tap To Open broke her maiden in late May at Churchill Downs and has been a force since that victory.
Tap To Open is a full sister to TAPIT son and Gainesway stallion CHARGE IT with their dam I’ll Take Charge now having two stakes winners from three to race. A winner out of three-time Grade 1 winner Take Charge Lady, I’ll Take Charge is a half-sister to champion Will Take Charge and Grade 1 winners As Time Goes By and Take Charge Indy.
Her half-sister is also the dam of champion Take Charge Brandi and three-time Grade 1 winner Omaha Beach.
TAPIT has proven to be a very successful cross with this family as well. In addition to I’ll Take Charge’s two stakes winners, Take Charge Brandi has a TAPIT stakes winner as does her half-sister Take Charge Tressa. I’ll Take Charge’s half-sister Lady Take Charge is also the dam of 2026 TAPIT stakes winning son Will Take Charge.
