Three-time champion sire Tapit officially counted his 100th black-type stakes winner Aug. 21, according to records compiled by The Jockey Club.
Tapit reached the century mark when Gainesway Stable’s Blind Ambition captured the Quick Call Stakes Aug. 9 at Saratoga Race Course. No. 100 was not confirmed until the result of the July 29 Umngeni Handicap had been reported from South Africa. The winner, Antony and Angela Beck’s Rodney, is officially Tapit’s 99th stakes winner.
Tapit’s most recent stakes winner is Dream Dancing, who won the Aug. 19 Del Mar Oaks (G1) and became Tapit’s 23rd Grade 1 winner, but she did not add to her sire’s stakes winner total since she had already won the Herecomesthebride Stakes (G3) in March.
