OLYMPIAD Son Romps at Churchill Downs

The third time was the charm for OLYMPIAD’s Farrokh on Thursday when the colt won a Churchill Downs maiden by an easy six lengths.

Making his first start under the twin spires in the six-furlong dirt race, Farrokh went off as the favorite here.

Breaking well, he raced about three lengths off the leader down the backstretch before going wide in the turn to set himself up for a clear run. Close enough to make a bid coming into the stretch, he dueled with another horse briefly before kicking away in the final furlong.

Farrokh drew away to win by six lengths with only two horses within nine lengths of him at the line.

Trained by Eddie Kenneally for Red Gate Racing, Farrokh was bred in Maryland by Determined Stud out of Animal Kingdom mare Bohemian Queen.

This colt is a half-brother to the Grade 3-placed Maclean’s Rook and is out of a daughter of the dual Grade 1 winner Life at Ten. That mare produced Grade 2-placed Singing Bullet among her five winners as the best mare from her family.

This is the 19th winner for OLYMPIAD, tying him for third among freshmen sires. Among his runners is a stakes winner and three stakes performers.
