Two established Gainesway sires saw their daughters in the spotlight at Fasig-Tipton on Monday night with MCKINZIE and TAPIT having three millionaires between them.
MCKINZIE’s multiple Grade 1 winning daughter Scottish Lassie brought the fourth biggest price of the night when Spendthrift purchased her from Taylor Made for $3 million.
A spectacular display!
SCOTTISH LASSIE didn’t just win the Grade 1 Coaching Club American Oaks, she had a jaw-dropping 15-length romp under @JRosarioJockey for trainer Jorge Abreu! pic.twitter.com/yhq3pvdUKt

One of the superstars from MCKINZIE’s first crop, Scottish Lassie romped home by nine lengths in the Frizette S. (G1) in only her second start as a juvenile before finishing fourth in that year’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1). It was only a taste of what was to come in the next year’s Coaching Club American Oaks (G1).
Finishing off the board just once in her 3-year-old campaign, she made easy work of a Coaching Club American Oaks field that included the previous year’s Champion 2-Year-Old Filly and two other Grade 1-placed runners with a 15 ½ length romp and the third placed runner over 21 lengths behind her.
This year at four, Scottish Lassie won at Saratoga by 8 ½ lengths before finishing second in both the Personal Ensign S. (G1) and Shuvee S. (G2).
Spendthrift also purchased MCKINZIE’s $1.35 million daughter Cash Call from Hill ‘n’ Dale.
From that same 2022 crop that put MCKINZIE in the spotlight, Cash Call as a Grade 3 winner in one of her two starts at the graded stakes level. In all, she won four of her 12 starts with six other top three finishes for $366,869 in earnings.
Cash Call’s top three finishes include a win in the Summertime Oaks (G3) and seconds or thirds in three other stakes.
TAPIT had three offerings at Fasig-Tipton November with the trio averaging $916,667 and none selling for less than $600,000.
TAPIT’s Salted led her sire’s trio when Albaugh Family Stables purchased her for $1.2 million from Taylor Made Sales.
A $760,000 Keeneland September yearling purchase from Gainesway’s consignment in 2023, Salted hit the board in five of nine starts as the first foal out of Grade 1 winner Salty. Salty was one of three stakes performers out of the stakes placed Theycallmelady luck alongside stakes winner Lady Mocato and the stakes placed Salty as Can Be.
This is also the family of Grade 1 winner Lang Field among many others.
TAPIT’s Grade 3-placed daughter Scratch It sold for $950,000 to Don Alberto from Hunter Valley Farm and his stakes winner and Grade 3-placed Love You Anyway brought $600,000 from Saints Or Sinners with River Oak Farm signing the ticket on the Taylor Made offering.
