With his gutsy win in Friday’s Curlin Stakes (Black Type) at Saratoga, Tapit’s son Highest Honors took home $55,000. On Saturday, Tacitus and Nitrous finished second in their respective races, the GII Jim Dandy and GII Amsterdam at Saratoga, earning $120,000 and $40,000 for their efforts. This boosts Tapit’s lifetime progeny earnings to $145,544,137.
Tapit’s current top performers include Tacitus, Synchrony, Marconi, and Souper Tapit. Tacitus won the GII Tampa Bay Derby and GII Wood Memorial, and finished second in the GI Belmont Stakes before placing in the Jim Dandy; Synchrony is the winner of the GII King Edward Stakes at Woodbine and GIII Fair Grounds Handicap; Marconi won this year’s GII Brooklyn Invitational; Souper Tapit is the winner of the GII Eclipse Stakes at Woodbine and the Sunshine Millions Classic at Gulfstream.
Tapit was the highest-earning North American sire in 2014, 2015, and 2016, and has sired 25 Grade I winners. He stands at Gainesway for $225,000.
