It was a TDN ‘Rising Star’ for OLYMPIAD on Sunday when the Gainesway-bred Jaded flew from the back to win a 6 ½ furlong Kentucky Downs Maiden Special Weight.
Jaded had only two horses beat as he raced nearly 10 lengths behind the leader early in the race. Running on the rail, Jaded didn’t make any moves until the field turned into the stretch and he started to make up ground.
That inside position worked well for the colt as he took an inside trip to pass horses on the rail and set himself up for a winning move. Jaded nearly ran out of ground but got his head in front just in time to win by a nose and earn ‘Rising Star’ honors.
Trained by Mark Casse for D. J. Stable, Jaded sold twice and brought $250,000 and $325,000 during those trips through the ring.
This colt is exceptionally bred as a half-brother to champion Jaywalk and stakes winner Danzatrice. Danzatrice went on to produce TAPIT’s Grade 1 winner TAPIT TRICE with Jaded’s other half-sisters producing stakes winner Jupiter and TAPIT’s stakes placed Abdul.
This is also the family of Grade 2 winners Mission Impazible and Forest Camp and Grade 3 winner Spanish Empire. Gainesway is selling a full brother to Jaded as Hip 2285 at Keeneland September in a few weeks.
OLYMPIAD now has eight winners from his first crop with his runners including Catch a Glimpse S. runner-up Royal Foxtrot.
