It was another $410,000 yearling for OLYMPIAD to lead the second half of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale when Pin Oak went to that price point for a colt in Book 3.
Consigned by Blandford Stud for Westwind Farms, the colt is the second foal out of the Candy Ride mare Kitt Kath. That 7-year-old mare’s dam is the three-time stakes winner Kathballu, who is one of two stakes winners out of multiple stakes placed Abba Gold. That mare’s other stakes winner is Kathballu’s Grade 2 winning full sister Kathmanblu. Another one of the mare’s daughters has also produced the stakes placed Paynt Battle.
Abba Gold is one of two stakes performers out of her own stakes winning dam alongside Grade 1 winner Friendly Michelle, who produced multiple stakes winner Bonita Bianca.
NAJD Stud went to $350,000 for a colt out of Autonomous from Legacy Bloodstock.
Bred by Stoneriggs Farm and sold for $150,000 in February, the colt’s dam is a stakes placed Quality Road mare whose first to run is a winner. Autonomous is also a half-sister to the stakes placed Aspect, who won seven times with the pair out of Circumspect. Circumspect is a half-sister to eight winners with that group including Grade 1 winner Monba with one of her placed half-sisters the dam of Grade 1-placed Zatter.
Monba isn’t the only Grade 1 winner in the family. It also includes Grade 1 winner Secret Hello and Plum Pretty among many stakes performers.
OLYMPIAD’s other yearlings in the later books sold for $240,000, $200,000, $150,000, etc. OLYPIAD saw his yearlings gross $6,408,500 for 66 sold.
