$410,000 Colt Leads Way for OLYMPIAD at Keeneland September

It was a good start to the Keeneland September Yearling Sale for OLYMPIAD during the first week of selling with his yearlings led by a $410,000 colt out of Pandamom.

Offered by Taylor Made Sales and bred by Hunter Valley Farm, this is the second foal out of that winning Uncle Mo mare. She is one of five winners out of the stakes winning Akilina, who produced stakes winner and Group 1 placed Rieno Tesorro and stakes winner and multiple Grade 2 placed Governor Malibu.

Pandamom’s first two dams have produced stakes winners with Akilina’s dam Fahamore proving to be a producer of producers as well. That mare’s daughter Blue Devil Bel produced Grade 1 winner Audible while stakes placed daughter Kitty Panda produced multiple stakes winner and Grade 2-placed Pandagate.

This colt is bred on the same Speightstown son x Uncle Mo daughter cross as Grade 1 winner Howard Wolowitz and multiple stakes winner Bank On Shea.

Tommy Town Thoroughbreds purchased a $350,000 filly from Brookdale, with that consignment selling her for Jack Swain.

This is the second foal out of American Pharoah mare Washington Square, who is a half-sister to three stakes performers. The mare’s dam Anyhow produced five winners in all, led by Grade 1 winner Noble Bird and stakes winner Brother Pat with Grade 3-placed Dido rounding out the stakes group.

Anyhow is one of two Grade 1 producers out of the stakes placed Charlotte Augusta alongside Relaxing Green, who produced Grade 1 winner Marley’s Freedom. Marley’s Freedom in return is the dam of this summer’s Ballerina S. (G1) winner Hope Road, one of two stakes updates on the page alongside Dido’s Colonial Cup winning son Safe Trip Home.

Charlotte Augusta has nine stakes winners under her name with seven others also placing in blacktype races.

The Airdrie Stud raised and offered colt out of Bestinthebusiness sold for $275,000 to Oracle Bloodstock.

The flashy chestnut is a half-bother to stakes winner Complexity Jane and stakes placed Roman Giant among the three winners from three to race out of his Ghostzapper dam. A winner herself, the daughter of Grade 2 placed You Asked is one of eight winners for her dam. That mare also produced Grade 3 winner Do Share and the stakes placed trio of Dalton, Perfect Magic, and Andyoushallreceive among her winners.

You Asked is the only stakes performer out of her own dam, but that mare is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Mesabi Maiden and stakes placed Pro Prospect. Their stakes winning dam is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Private Terms.

It was a successful first week at Keeneland all around for first-crop sire OLYMPIAD, whose yearlings also sold for $250,000, $225,000, $210,000, etc. with a median of $210,000 for 11 sold.
