OLYMPIAD Yearlings Ready to Shine at Keeneland September

After a strong showing at last November’s breeding stock sales and a $400,000 colt this summer at the yearling sales, OLYMPIAD is set for another good sale at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale this month. The stallion has 15 in the first two books with one representing him during the first day of selling.

The first OLYMPIAD through the ring is offered by Gainesway as Hip 9 on Monday.

The colt is out of Lady Pewitt, who also produced champion Jaywalk and multiple stakes winner Danzatrice. Danzatrice is a successful broodmare in her own right as the dam of OLYMPIAD’s studmate TAPIT TRICE. Two of his half-sisters have also provided updates with Magnanimous seeing her juvenile Jupiter finishing second in the Victoria S. after the catalog was released with another half-sister the dam of TAPIT juvenile Abdul, who was second in the My Dear S. in July.

Lady Pewitt’s 14-time winning half-sister produced a Grade 3-placed runner herself with Lady Pewitt out of a half-sister to Grade 2 winners Mission Impazible and Forest Camp. In all, her stakes winning dam produced four stakes winners with her daughters also producing stakes performers and the dams of stakes performers.

Lady Pewitt had a colt by OLYMPIAD this year.

A big update ushers the Taylor Made-offered Hip 474 into the ring during Book 2.

The colt is already a half-brother to Grade 2 placed Princess Madison and out of Grade 3 winner Queen Bee To You. But his dam isn’t the only stakes producer out of Silk Queen. The mare’s winning daughter Queenofhercastle saw her son Lovesick Blues become a Grade 1 winner in the Bing Crosby S. (G1) just a few weeks ago. The mare’s stakes winning Speedy Wilson also added a second stakes win to his own record in the Real Good Deal S. at the same track.

In all, there are four updates in the colt’s immediate family with Princess Madison placing to increase her earnings to $265,553 and half-brother Worthy Charge taking Queen Bee to You to two winners from two to race.

Vinery Sales-offered Hip 949 saw his dam Tenacious Jewel’s half-brother provide him with a Grade 1 update after the catalog was released.

That half-brother is Haskell S. (G1) third place finisher Goal Oriented, who is the first stakes winner out of multiple Grade 3 winner Bizzy Caroline. Closer to home, the colt’s half-sister Overly Dramatic won an Allowance in mid-August to win for the third time and take her earnings to $100,646.

Bizzy Caroline is a half-sister to five-time Grade 1 winner Lady Eli and Grade 3 placed Princesa Caroline. Another one of her dam’s seven winners is also the dam of Group 2 winner Sacred. In all, this page has eight stakes winners with Goal Oriented becoming its fourth stakes placed runner.

Turning Point Bloodstock is the consignor for Hip 1007, a filly with an update.

That filly is out of the stakes winning Athenian, who has produced four winners from her six runners. Already on the page when the catalog was released was dual stakes placed Skole, but Athenian registered a second stakes performer when her juvenile Argos finished third in the Soaring Free S. after breaking his maiden in his first start.

Argos became the 11^th stakes performer under his Grade 3 winning second dam Ziria. That mare is the dam of four stakes winners overall with one of her daughters also producing Group 2 winner Turaath and another producing Group 2 winner Miss Extra.

An Ontario-bred half-sister to Queen’s Plate winner Safe Conduct sells with Cara Bloodstock as Hip 1079.

The filly is out of the winning Duchess Dancer, who has produced four winners from four to race with her other runners including dual stakes winner Dancing Duchess and five-time winner Classic Dancer.  Duchess Dancer is one of six winners out of her own stakes placed dam Sararegal. Sararegal produced Canadian Horse of the Year Fatal Bullet and stakes winner Millennia in addition to the dam of stakes winner Freedom Speaks.

Combining with the success of her family is the success of the cross this yearling is bred on. Dancing Duchess is by another Speightstown son with two stakes winners and 17 winners from 24 runners by Speightstown sons and out of Congrats mares.

An OLYMPIAD colt out of TAPIT daughter Helen Marie sells as Hip 1136 with Taylor Made Sales.

This is the second foal out of Helen Marie, who is a full sister to Grade 2 placed Royal Obsession and half-sister to the stakes placed Jumby Bay. Royal Obsession has become a successful broodmare as the dam of this year’s Indiana Oaks (G3) winner Clicquot and Silver Ticket from her three to race.

Their dam Rote is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Magnificent Song and four other stakes performers out of Song To Remember, who has seen her daughters produce five stakes performer including Venezuelan champion The Mindfulangel.

Helen Marie was back in Gainesway’s breeding shed last year, foaling a MCKINZIE colt in 2025.

The Keeneland September Yearling Sale kicks off on September 8 with horses selling through September 20.
