MCKINZIE’s Spitfire Impressive Saratoga Maiden Special Weight Winner

Second in her debut, MCKINZIE’s Spitfire went even better at Saratoga on Thursday with a Maiden Special Weight victory.

The six furlong dirt race saw Spitfire race alongside four others with two horses in front of them. Spitfire broke away from the others late down the backstretch and was a clear third behind the leaders in the turn.

She flew down the outside of those two in the stretch to take the lead in the final furlong and galloped away with her ears pricked to a 3 ¼ length win.

Kenny McPeek trains the juvenile for Arindel, who bought her as a yearling.

Bred by C.W. and Anne Marie Swann, Spitfire is a half-sister to stakes winner Two of a Kind, Grade 3-placed Psychoannalyze and stakes placed Complexifier. Those are three of seven winners out of the stakes-placed Freud’s Irish Miss.

Freud’s Irish Miss is out of Grade 3 winner Unacceptable, who produced three stakes performers herself with other sisters producing multiple stakes winner Immortal Eyes and multiple graded stakes winner Sterwins.

This is the second juvenile winner of the year for MCKINZIE and one of three winners on the day at Saratoga for the stallion.
