OLYMPIAD’s first crop of yearlings hit the ring on Tuesday with four on offer during the one-day sale.
The sire of the most expensive weanling of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale kicks off this yearling sales season with Hip 22. Offered by Taylor Made, the colt is the third foal out of Tactical Move.
This page saw an update only a few weeks ago when the stakes winning Kentucky Outlaw finished third in the Delaware Derby. That colt is a grandson of Tactical Move’s half-sister Goaltending, whose foals include the Grade 2 winner Turnerloose. Bred by Town and Country Farms, this colt is a grandson of Grade 1 winner Game Face, whose four winners include TAPIT’s Grade 2-placed Coliseum.
There are 11 stakes winners and nine other stakes performers on this page.
The second through the ring is the Gainesway-offered Hip 24, a filly out of a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Capo Bastone.
Bred by Green Lantern Stables, the filly’s dam Taurine was a winner on the track who has produced three-time winner Brawndo as well. Taurine is also a half-sister to Grade 2 placed C J’s Leelee, whose daughters have been successful broodmares with daughter Pray For Lessly the dam of Grade 1 placed Alys Beach and daughter C J’s Gal the dam of Grade 3 winner Hidden Connection.
Seeing 10 stakes winners on her page is Hip 186, a filly out of Casus Belli consigned by Taylor Made on behalf of DJ Stables.
This is the third foal for Casus Belli, a Scat Daddy granddaughter of Broad Queen. That mare is a full sister to the Grade 3 winner Brushing Gloom and half-sister to stakes winner Clash By Night and stakes placed Blushing Broad.
Broad Queen is a half-sister to multiple stakes producers and herself produced two stakes winners from four winners overall. Daughter Queen Greeley won two stakes and produced six-time winner Christmas Sky while stakes winner Blushing Dixie is the granddam of Grade 3 winner Fighting Seabee. This filly’s fourth dam is a half-sister to multiple Grade 1 winner Tactile.
The final through the ring for OLYMPIAD is Hip 214, selling with Warrendale Sales for Silesia Farm.
This March born filly is a half-sister to two winners out of the Hard Spun mare Goldspun, who is a half-sister to the Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed Prospective Saint. In all, six of Goldspun’s half-siblings won at least one race for their winning A.P. Indy dam A. B. Prospect. She is a half-sister to the stakes placed Eclipse Bay – who produced Grade 2 winner Niigon’s Eclipse – as one of four stakes producers out of Winged Prospect.
A two-time winner and stakes producer, Winged Prospect is out of the Broodmare of the year Loudrange. That mare’s seven stakes winners are led by Canadian Horse of the Year Ruling Angel, campion Tilt My Halo and the stakes winning dams of Horse of the Year Soaring Free and champion sire Regal Intention.
The sale kicks off at 10:00a.m. on Tuesday, July 8 at Fasig-Tipton in Lexington, Ky.
