Donato Lanni signed the ticket for a $525,000 MCKINZIE filly on behalf of Sarah Kelly during the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2-Year-Old Sale on Tuesday.
Offered by Caliente Thoroughbreds, the filly hails from a prolific family as the granddaughter of Misty Dancer. Even closer to home, her dam is a full sister to the great Quiet Dance.
Quiet Dance was a stakes winner, but is best known as the dam of Horse of the Year Saint Liam, Grade 1 winner Funtastic, Grade 2 winner Quiet Giant, Grade 3 winner Congressionalhonor, and stakes winner Dance Quietly.
Quiet Giant went on to produce Horse of the Year and successful sire Gun Runner with the page also including Grade 1 winner Buster’s Ready and Grade 3 winner Lul among many others. The page also saw an update earlier this month when Timeout finished second in a Churchill Downs stakes.
The filly was bred by Whisper Hill Farm and was a $247,000 Fasig-Tipton October Yearling when sold from the Gainesway consignment last fall.
MCKINZIE’s other juveniles sold for $140,000 and $115,000 with a $260,000 average at the sale.
