MCKINZIE daughter High Paf had been impressing in her recent workouts and the Brittany Russell filly backed that up in her debut on Saturday with a Laurel Park Maiden Special Weight victory.
High Paf sat back and watched a clear leader early in the six furlong dirt race when sitting among the back runners in the field. Sheldon Russell showed he had plenty of horse under him when keeping her well in-hand as she moved closer in the turn.
Piloted to the rail in the stretch, High Paf had to prove her determination when digging in deep to catch the runaway leader but did just that.
It took until the line to get her nose in front, but High Paf got there for the win with the third placed runner 5 ΒΌ lengths behind the top two.
Racing for Michael Caruso and Michael Dubb, High Paf was bred by Wynnstay and H. Allen Poindexter out of TAPIT daughter Emrata.
This is the first foal out of that winning mare, who is one of four winners from five to race out of the stakes placed A Story of Revenge. This family also includes Grade 1 winners I Want Revenge and In The Dark among others.
The second crop leader by Grade 1 winners, Grade 1 performers, graded stakes winners, and graded stakes performers, MCKINZIE is the sire of 29 winners overall.
