Gainesway Announces Additional 2025 Stud Fees

Gainesway has released additional stud fees for their 2025 stallion roster following the Breeders’ Cup.

Leading the charge is MCKINZIE, who has emerged as a leader among North America’s freshman sire class. The son of Street Sense is led by a pair of Grade 1 winners from his debut crop of runners: Chancer McPatrick, winner of the Hopeful Stakes (G1) and Champagne Stakes (G1), and Scottish Lassie, winner of the Frizette Stakes (G1). He is the first stallion since Mr. Prospector to sire the winners of the Champagne and Frizette in the same year. In the sales ring, yearlings by MCKINZIE sold for $950,000, $500,000, $475,000, $400,000, etc., while his 2-year-olds brought $750,000, $725,000, $675,000 etc. MCKINZIE’s 2025 stud fee has been set at $75,000.

Additionally, stud fees have been set for MUTH, SEIZE THE GREY and TAPIT TRICE, all of which will be new to Gainesway’s growing stallion roster.

At two, MUTH won the American Pharoah S. (G1) before running second in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1).  At three, MUTH won the San Vicente (G2) before prevailing in the Arkansas Derby (G1), defeating future KY Derby winner Mystik Dan.  MUTH is the only son of Good Magic to become a Grade 1 winner at both two and three, replicating the same accomplishment achieved by his sire. MUTH’s stud fee will be $35,000 LFSN.

As a juvenile, SEIZE THE GREY broke his maiden at Saratoga, defeating future Belmont Stakes (G1) winner Dornoch.  He was then triumphant with a front-running victory in the Pat Day Mile (G2) on the undercard of the Kentucky Derby. From there, SEIZE THE GREY became a dual Grade 1 winner and one of the top three-year-olds of his crop by going wire-to-wire in both the Preakness S. and the Pennsylvania Derby. SEIZE THE GREY’s stud fee will be $30,000 LFSN.

At three, TAPIT TRICE won the 2023 Blue Grass Stakes (G1) and Tampa Bay Derby (G3) while also placing in the Belmont S. (G1) and Travers S. (G1). At four, he won the Woodward S. (G2) and the Monmouth Cup S. (G3) while earning a 101 Beyer Speed Figure, the third triple digit Beyer of his career. TAPIT TRICE’s stud fee will be $20,000 LFSN.

Gainesway will be hosting their Open House daily through November 15th from 12:30 to 3:00.
