A $340,000 colt purchased by Bradley Thoroughbreds led the way for MCKINZIE yearlings at the Fasig-Tipton October Sale when selling during the first session.
Consigned by Gainesway, he is the first foal out of Grade 2 winner Katz Me If You Can’s winning daughter Katz a Dream. Katz a Dream is a half-sister to Grade 1-placed Mississippi and to the dam of multiple stakes winner and Grade 1-placed Comfort. Another one of her sister’s three stakes performers includes two-time Venezuelan Horse of the Year Lyndacarter and multiple stakes winner Srta. Chenoma.
One of multiple stakes winners for her own dam, Katz Me If You Can sees 11 stakes performers under her name with four winning at the level.
Five & Ten went to $247,000 to buy a MCKINZIE filly from the Gainesway consignment during the second day of selling.
The filly is a half-sister to the nine-time winner Ice Blast and out of Paulownia, a full sister to stakes winner Quiet Dance. Quiet Dance takes up nearly the whole page on her own with the mare producing Horse of the Year Saint Laim and Grade 1 winner Funtastic in addition to Grade 2 winner Quiet Giant – whose own foals include Horse of the Year Gun Runner.
Quiet Dance’s other daughters have produced runners such as Grade 1 winner Buster’s Ready and Lull among others. Another of Paulownia’s sisters is the dam of Grade 2 winner Fly So High and another is the granddam of multiple stakes winner Moonage Daydream.
MCKINZIE’s other yearlings brought $210,000, $150,000, etc. for a $129,923 average for 13 sold over the four days.
