Green Lantern Stables homebred Amarth was the latest winner for MCKINZIE on Friday with a Keeneland Maiden Special Weight victory going seven furlongs.
Making her second career start, the filly prompted the pace from the start, never letting the leader get a true advantage over her. She made her first serious bid in the turn and was able to take command of the race for the first time as they turned into the stretch.
Another runner wasn’t going to make it easy on Amarth with the filly having to repel a challenge, but that was quickly shot down. In the final furlong, Amarth built her margin to win by 2 ½ lengths over Formaggio with the third placed runner 8 ½ length behind the winner.

Amarth is trained by Eddie Keneally, who kicked off her career at Churchill Downs last month.
Never offered at auction, Amarth is one of three winners from three to race out of the stakes placed Criminal Mischief. The filly’s granddam is a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner and champion sire Distorted Humor and stakes winner Dancing Gulch with many of her siblings also producing stakes horses.
Criminal Mischief had a colt by MCKINZIE in April of this year for Offshoot Farm.
